Pornichet Select 6.50 changes organiser for its 19th edition
The Pornichet Select 6.50 is now organised by the “Loire Atlantique Course au Large”, an association from the Loire which won the call for tenders launched by the 6.50 class. This year, 85 Skippers will take the start. They will set off from the port of Pornichet on Saturday 27th April at 1 pm, for 300 minutes towards the bay of Quiberon to round the ” Birvideaux, Belle-Ile en mer “, the Ile d’Yeu, les Sables d’Olonne and then go back up to round the Ile de Groix with a finish in Pornichet.
A “Tracking” system visible on the website www.la-cl.com will enable all the competitors and their route to be followed in real time.
Amongst the French skippers, many foreigners will make the trip to qualify for the ultimate event, “La mini transat”. Coming from Japan, Russia, Poland, Italy, Portugal, England and Spain, they will also try their luck.

The association was created in 2017 with the aim of developing and promoting ocean racing from the Loire-Atlantique coast.
Beyond the promotion of sailing and ocean racing, the objectives of L.A.C.L. are numerous and ambitious. Thanks to the competence of its members, it wishes to :

– offer practical and theoretical training applied to ocean racing,
– organise nautical events, alone or jointly with sailing clubs,
– support organising clubs, through the expertise and experience of its members,
– to provide material and/or financial support for offshore racing events,

– to be an informed contact with the institutions.

Loire Atlantique Course au Large, for its 1st year has created, produced and organised in 2017 ” La Yacht Cup ” (Pornichet – Chaussée de Sein – Pornichet), an offshore race open to the Osiris class and the IRC class.
